CEC nishes with 6-2 record for second place in the Scotia Conference

The CEC Cougars wrapped up their regular schedule Sunday and now look ahead to the rst round of the playo s against Sir John A.

e CEC Cougars will host Sir John A. Macdonald Flames this Sunday in the opening round of NSSAF high school football playo s, after nailing down second place in their division.

Game time for the quarter- nal matchup is 1 p.m. at James Macpherson Stadium.

In the nal game of the regular season, the Cougars pulled away from the Horton High School Gri ns in the second half to take a 21-9 decision at home Sunday.

Cobequid Educationa­l Centre nished the regular schedule with six wins against two losses, good for second place in the Division 1 Scotia Conference, behind division front runner C.P. Allen. e Cougars face the Flames who secured third place in the Nova Conference.

At Macpherson Stadium Sunday, CEC held an 8-0 lead at the half over Horton. Starting quarterbac­k Michael Adams scored a major on a one-yard plunge for the Cougars’ only TD of the rst half.

Running back Andrew Floyd had 12 carries for 56 yards and ran back a kick-o 80 yards for a touchdown. Charles Toole hauled in a pass from quarterbac­k Craig Tabor and ran the rest of the way for a major that covered 25 yards.

On defence, Jordan Waller and Ivan Gault each had six tackles, while Will Sylliboy had four tackles and an intercepti­on. Jonah Rhind, Kaleb Johnstone and Connor Richardson each picked o a pass and had two tackles.
