Damian Hartt

Hometown: Ellershouse, N.S. Position: Defence Age: 17

Number: 20

Size: 5-9, 177 lbs. Bearcat-of-the-week honours go to rookie defenceman Damian Hartt. Damian assisted on both Bearcat goals in the 4-2 loss to the Yarmouth Mariners last Saturday. The 17 year-old is playing a big game often against the opposition’s top talent. The learning curve is big, but he’s handling it well.

Damian got his hockey start in the West Hants association before moving on to the Acadia program and the chance to play AAA. Following his two peewee seasons, he spent a year of bantam with Newbridge Academy and a second in Saskatchewan with the Notre Dame Hounds. His rst midget season was with the Cole Harbour Wolfpack, and last year, as a Valley midget, he was the NSMMHL most penalized player (107 minutes). The 2018 rst round pick has earned his playing time and is seeing action in all situations.

Initiation hockey

Over the next month, Truro minor initiation players will be displaying their talents during the intermission of Bearcat games. This is where it all starts.
