Fundy Female Leadership Network seeks nomination­s

e public is invited to nominate deserving candidates for the 2019 Community ACE Leadership Award.

e second annual Fundy Female Leadership Network Celebratio­n and Awards, will be held Feb. 23 at the Rath-eastlink Community Centre.

e awards celebratio­n at the RECC will run from 10 a.m. to noon that day and is open to the public. Nomination­s for the 2019 Community ACE Leadership Award will be open until noon on Feb. 4.

“The FFLN provides a unique opportunit­y for female leaders within the region to attend profession­al developmen­t opportunit­ies, networking and be part of a group that promotes being active, con dent and empowered,” said Courtney Nicholson- Patriquin, regional sport consultant for the Fundy region.

is year’s keynote speaker is Sara-lynne Knockwood from Si-pekenakati­k First Nation.

She was previously the Indigenous sport and recreation co- ordinator in Nova Scotia for eight years and has been a standing member of the Tri-Partite Forum’s sport and recreation committee for the last 14 years.

The FFLN’S goal is to have more women taking leadership roles, as well as gender equality in sport and recreation across the Bay of Fundy Region, including Colchester County.

Its committee is made up of representa­tives from Sport Nova Scotia, Communitie­s, Culture and Heritage, local recreation profession­als and the coaching community.

Its larger network is made up of about 50 men and women involved in physical, recreation­al and sporting activities.
