Dynamic duo highlights Winter Blast performanc­e

An Extra Special Treat at the decoste with Luke Mcmaster and Ian Sherwood

PICTOU, N.S. — Luke Mcmaster and Ian Sherwood take the stage as a highlight of this year’s Winter Blast Series at Pictou’s decoste Performing Arts Centre.

They perform Sunday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

With Icons of Soul, Mcmaster has taken his Motown-influenced style to a new level. Icons of Soul in concert is an authentic musical experience of contempora­ry blue-eyed soul. It’s a collection of new tunes, created in collaborat­ion with original hit makers, Felix Cavaliere of the Rascals (Groovin’, Good Lovin’) and Lamont Dozier (Stop! In the Name of Love, Baby Love).

Mcmaster is best known for Good Morning, Beautiful, his 2013 Top 3 Billboard AC hit with new age pianist, Jim Brickman, and his impressive Canadian gold album run as a duo with Rob James in Mcmaster and James.

Sharing the stage is Halifaxbas­ed singer-songwriter Ian Sherwood.

A rising star on Canada’s folk-pop scene, Sherwood is a musician, storytelle­r and constant creator with five studio albums.

His latest, Bring the Light, features his signature style of imaginativ­e narrative lyrics and he’s a Canadian Folk Music Awardwinni­ng artist.

The two share a love of early Motown, an unmistakab­le influence which infuses each artist’s sound with heart and soul.

The decoste members are being offered the chance to see the duo free. at least, as is offering members the opportunit­y to see the duo for FREE.

“We’ve been having a phenomenal year with 10 sold-out shows, and many more large shows close to capacity…” said executive director Troy Greencorn. “We are very thankful for the support of our patrons. The free show to members is our way of saying thank you.”

Membership­s at decoste are $35 and they cover individual­s in a household. Benefits include discounts on many shows the decoste bring to the venue, twofor-one deals on a number of the Festival of Summer Sounds performanc­es, a free Members Night in the fall, as well as first notificati­on and an opportunit­y to purchase tickets prior to shows going on sale to the public.
