Award-winning entertainer Bonnie Kilroe brings Vegas to Truro

-

TRURO, N.S. – Vegas meets Vaudeville in the 100-minute musical comedy celebrity impersonation show DIVAS, featuring 20 iconic singers, actresses, and entertainers, past and present, as portrayed by Bonnie Kilroe.

The show combines Vaudevillian comedy with singing and spectacular costumes.

In Truro, it is being staged June 14 at Truro Colchester Legion Branch 26, 42 Brunswick St.

In DIVAS, the list includes Mae West, Marilyn Monroe, Cher, Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Reba Mcentire and Tina Turner, to stars of the present – Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry, among others.

Kilroe has performed DIVAS to audiences all over the world over the last 17 years.

From fundraisers in towns across Canada, to large theatre shows and casinos throughout North America and as a guest entertainer on cruise ships. It’s a show that’s said to appeal to a wide demographic.

Throughout the show, Kilroe uses her improvisational skills as a performer to encourage audience participation, adding an extra element of novelty and surprise.

Unlike other multi-celebrity impersonation shows, she performs all of the voices live, both speaking and singing, with no lip-synching.

Each celebrity is onstage between five and 10 minutes between the one-minute costume changes.

Kilroe will perform eight shows over three weeks in Atlantic Canada but will only be doing her DIVAS show in Truro and Petitcodiac, N.B.

The other cities will host The Patsy Cline Show and Country Queens.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show, Friday, June 14. Advance tickets are $25 and are available at Macquarries Pharmasave or online, trurodivas.brownpapertickets.com. At the door, tickets are $30 each.
