Position: Goaltender H-W: 6-1, 190 lbs.

Goaltender Alec Macdonald is this week’s Bearcat of the Week.

Alec got the nod in two of Truro’s three games last week, – a 2-1 loss in Amherst and a 5-3 win in Pictou County. He turned aside 33 shots in Amherst and 41 in the Crusher game to be named the game’s first star.

He’s been tending to his business.

Alec came up through the Truro and area minor program en route to spending a pair of seasons with the Truro Major Bantam Bearcats. Next up was a season with the Newbridge Academy program playing U-18 hockey. He followed this with a season with the Weeks Midgets, which included a callup for four games with the Moncton Wildcats.

The 2016 Bearcat territorial pick enjoyed a strong MHL rookie year in 20172018, posting a 2.13 GAA in 12 games and having his name inscribed on the Young-knickle Award, with Kevin Resop, for having the league’s fewest goals against.

Last year, he suited up for 20 games, compiling a 2.82 GAA, and being a member of the Eastlink South all-star squad, participating in the Eastern Canada Challenge.

As a third-year Bearcat, he’s been handed the reigns from the get-go. His tandem mate, Sebastien Plamondon (18), is another experienced goalie giving Truro a seasoned duo.
