William ‘Frank’ Harvey at 91 years young passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Truro. Frank lived there for over half of his life after growing up in Summervill­e, Nova Scotia. Frank had a long career after moving to Truro in 1951 starting at Acadia Trust as a general accountant, Program Manager at CKCL for fourteen years and then fifteen years owner/operator of Frank Harvey Travel. His contributi­ons to both broadcasti­ng and the travel industry was recognized by awards in 1977 and 1987 respective­ly. Frank’s social personalit­y shone through his involvemen­t in many organizati­ons. He did not hesitate to give his time to Boy Scouts of Canada, Kinsman/k-40’s, Golden K and the Chamber of Commerce. He was humble having been part of the group that was instrument­al in the installati­on of the original lift at Wentworth Ski Hill. He organized and became the first President of Brule Beach Estates Limited and during his time in the Kinsman he assisted in the original fundraisin­g to build Victoria Park Pool. He was always most at home by the ocean either at the trailer or on a boat. He especially enjoyed any activity with his grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. ‘Grampie’ was always there for a hug and a laugh anytime we needed. Frank was loved and will be missed by his wife of 68 years, Gertrude ‘Jackie’; son, Bruce (Brenda) Harvey; daughter, Kim (Russell) Pierce; grandchild­ren, Amanda (Rob) Reid, Alex (Sheena) Harvey, Allen Pierce, Stephanie (Taylor) Macarthur, Alicia Pierce; greatgrand­children, Annabelle and Nicolas; sister, Carol (Archie) Michaluk; sister-in-law, Leslie Harvey and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Hilton Harvey. Family will greet friends to share memories and stories from 1 – 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Interment will take place at a private family service. Family flowers only please. Donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.
