Mobile COVID testing units roll out in Truro
TRURO, N.S. - The Nova Scotia Health Authority brought its mobile health units to Truro last week in response to an increased number of potential COVID exposures in the area.
The vehicles were located at the NSCC Truro Campus and later moved to the Best Western Glengary, where they were to have been until last Tuesday. After registering at a vehicle's window, visitors underwent testing with a standard PCR swab inside the NSCC cafeteria lobby and the convention centre.
Drop-in testing was available to those who have no symptoms, were not a close contact with anyone with COVID and are not isolating because of travel outside of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador. The 20-foot vans were first launched by the province in December.
Scheduled testing continues to be regularly available at the Truro Farmers’ Market and
the Rath Eastlink Community Centre building. Appointments can be booked online at covidself-assessment.novascotia.ca or by calling 811.
