Keep moving forward

Another weekend, another two wins.

That’s just what the Bearcats need and want. Five of their last six games were at the RECC and they won them all.

Friday’s matchup with Amherst was a dandy. The Bearcats came from behind twice en route to the victory.

Their will to win was obvious, especially in the third period, which ultimately belonged to them. They scored three and gave Amherst nothing.

It was an intense game between two old rivals. It was good to see and feel.

Saturday, the Bearcats dominated the Valley Wildcats, scoring in all three periods and holding a wide territorial edge.

A hat trick and good goaltending were a good combination and a big part in this entertaining game.

The Bearcats close out February when they host the South Shore Lumberjacks on Friday then head to Berwick Saturday.

South Shore played Truro tight earlier this month, scoring a pair of goals in the back half of the third period. They weren’t prepared to go away.

Valley has taken it on the chin lately and will look to right the ship at home. Best to be ready for both.

This is a big MHL week with the trade deadline set for Thursday. It’s usually an exciting time.

Some teams tend to look for pieces which will make them more competitive to enhance their chances to take all the marbles. Well, there aren’t as many of those this year, with Hockey Canada’s cancellation of the Centennial Cup and the regional qualifiers.

Other teams tend to sell off talent when a post-season appears out of range. This year, however, all teams are slated for playoff action.

This COVID year has affected just about everything. While hockey is being played in the South Division, it remains on pause in the North.

The Bearcats will continue to make the most of the situation with continued improvement at the top of the list.
