Postponement is the one word hockey players don’t want to hear. But hear it they must.

COVID is not through with hockey or any other part of our daily lives, it seems.

The MHL has done well to keep things going. The Bearcats made the most of their return to play, winning four consecutive games, all in good fashion.

They started last week with three games on tap, all on the road. Scheduled were trips to Yarmouth, Fredericton and Valley. As it turned out, all three were postponed. Reports don’t say why anymore, but we all know why.

As the Bearcats enter this week, they look forward to an overnighter to play Edmundston then Grand Falls.

Saturday, the Bearcats have a scheduled meeting at home against the Pictou County Crushers. That’s always a positive for fans and players alike.

At the time of this writing everything is good to go. Keep fingers crossed.

In the Eastlink North Division, Fredericton, Edmundston and Campbellton are all in striking position of that second spot behind the MHL leading Summerside Capitals.

Behind these four sit Grand Falls and Miramachi, playing for pride. Both are dangerous.

For sure, back-to-back games against the Blizzard and Rapid will have their challenges for the Bearcats. That’s why games are played.

Truro hasn’t faced the Crushers since Dec. 9. The Bearcats won three of the five meetings to date against their closest rival.

Except for their initial meeting, when the Bearcats won convincingly, all games were decided by a one goal margin, including a pair of OT decisions.

Questions coming in this direction regarding rescheduling and playoff formats, unfortunately, aren’t answered.
