The Cornwallis Project 4-H Club held a speech and demonstration event and potluck supper on March 29 at the community centre. Nine members presented to an appreciative audience of fellow 4Hers and family members. James Rand, along with his introducer Hanna Cox and thanker Austin Cox, will be advancing to the Kings County 4-H Rally on April 11 at NKEC. Earlier this winter, club members enjoyed two nighttime winter activities: a skating party on the rink and a snowshoe hike.
Kings County 4-H is holding a roast beef supper and auction on April 12 at the Kings Mutual Century Center. Item viewing is at 5:30 p.m. and supper will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling the 4-H office in Kentville, 902–679–6027.
The Port Williams United Baptist Church book club will meet April 8 at 7 p.m. to discuss The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom. This week’s special location is the Port Williams Library, where participants will learn about the library’s services, including downloadable audiobooks, ebooks and Book Club in a Bag. This group is open to everyone in the church and community.
The Port Williams and District Lions Club will celebrate the 45th Anniversary of its charter presentation with a dinner featuring Jimmie Lamb’s barbecue pork and a dance with live music by The Groove Kings. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on April 11 at the community centre. Non-Lions Club members are invited to attend. Dinner and dance is $50 per couple; dance only is $15 per couple. The PWVFD celebration of the birthday of Sparky the firedog has been rescheduled to April 12 from 2-4 p.m. There will be cake, games, colouring and the opportunity to meet the firefighters and Sparky. Explore the fire station, the fire trucks and even use a real fire hose. Sparky hopes to see you there!
