Aylesford skier wins U12 Cranberry Cup results
The Martock Ski Race Club hosted approximately 135 racers from the Atlantic region on Feb. 18 for the annual Cranberry Cup Ski Cross event.
Athletes from the Ben Eoin Ski Team, Poley Mountain Ski Club, and PEI Alpine Team also participated.
The athletes ranged in age from five to 11 years, and competed in three age categories: U8, U10, and U12.
Ellen Coady, president of the Martock Ski Race Club, said the club relies heavily on Ski Martock to build the course and the 50- plus volunteer officials that make it happen.
The event is sponsored Johnston’s Cranberries, Aylesford.
The event includes training on the course in the morning, followed by three rounds of heats for all athletes in the afternoon. The top eight athletes in each age group move onto a small final and a big final to determine the overall winners.
