GERBEN VANDERKLOET PASSES AWAY AT AGE 102
VanderKloet, Gerben — 102, of Kentville,
NS, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 26, 2018. He was the only son of the late Hattem and Neeltje VanderKloet of Oenkerk, The Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 with his family and settled in Niagaraon-the-Lake, ON, where he farmed with his sons. In 1965, he moved, with his family, to Nova Scotia and worked at various jobs, retiring from Acadian University as grounds keeper. He is survived by his sons, Harry (Allie), Elliot Lake, ON; John (Edith), Kentville, NS; grandchildren, Patricia (Rob) VanderKruk, Waterdown, ON; Geoff (Lisa), Utterson, ON; Heather (Mike) Zylstra, Huntsville, ON; Melanie (Mark) Buietenhuis, Huntsville, ON; Jessica (Jeff) Cote, Powassan, ON; Jackie (Al) Sandstra; Kentville, NS; Pauline (Harold) Drost, Fredericton, NB; Greg (Dayna) VanderKloet, Ottawa, ON and Doug (Jennifer) VanderKloet, Kentville, NS; 26 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Greet; daughter-in-law, Margaret; granddaughter, Sonja and grandson, Terrance. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home Kentville. The funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, in the Canard Community Church (Kentville Christian Reformed Congregation), Canard, Kings County. Pastor Bert VanderBeek officiated. Interment took place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses.
