Jason Hanes, head coach of the Windsor Knights intermediate AAA baseball team:

“I never really thought about it until today. I wonder if Baseball Nova Scotia has thought about it? I know there’s a smoking policy, which I checked, and it said members of both teams and umpires shall not smoke or use smokeless tobacco — immediate rejection if caught. That’s always been there, but there’s all kinds of guys that smoke. It’s kind of overlooked. We don’t see liquor, but there’s lots of smoking here. But at this point, I’m really not sure how (cannabis) will be handled. I don’t know if our league will do something. There’s lots of guys on my team who smoke and lots of guys on my team who smoke marijuana. I know guys have showed up before and have been high. I’ve tried hard to convince them it would be in their best interest not to, but what they do before they get here is hard to control. When it becomes legal it’ll be even harder to control.”
