Central Kings Gators senior boys’ basketball team meets stiff competitio­n in Shelburne

The Central Kings Gators senior boys’ basketball team recently competed in Shelburne Regional High School’s Phil Callan Memorial Tournament.

The Gators played three games, winning one and losing two.

In the first game, they lost to Lockport High School by a close 75-70 score. The Gators trailed by 16 points after three quarters but rallied to take the lead 64-63 with three minutes left. But some clutch three-point shooting by the Lockport squad down the stretch earned them the victory.

The Gators were led in scoring by Alex Parnell with 21 points, while Lance Keddy added 17 points and seven rebounds to get Player of the Game honors.

In the second game, the Gators faced rivals from the neighbouri­ng West Kings District High School The Gators started strong and played a solid defensive game to win 71-47. Keddy was the top scorer with 21 points and Isaac Moores chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds to earn Player of the Game honors.

In their final match, they faced the host Shelburne High, defending Division 2 regional champions. This was a fastpaced, intense battle and, by half, the sharp shooting Shelburne squad held a 14-point lead.
