Carole Morris-Underhill’s favourite photos of 2018

As a journalist at a community newspaper, I take hundreds of photos each year. The assignments range from covering sporting events to breaking news, and feature everything in-between.

Every day serves as a fresh chance to capture a compelling image in hopes of advancing a story.

Looking back at 2018, here are some of my favourites.

CAROLE MORRIS-UNDERHILL Justine Blatt-Janmaat powered up the pitch for the Horton Griffins. The Valley team took on King’s-Edgehill School in the Western Zone Division 1 semifinal and won 29-15 to advance to the final. Blatt-Janmaat not only plays high school rugby but also plays at the provincial and national level as well.

CAROLE MORRIS-UNDERHILL Children laughed and smiled as they made their way down the firefighter-run water slide at the Falmouth Community Hall June 16. The event was part of the annual Teddy Bear Jamboree. Pictured are Emma and Kayla Cooper, of Falmouth.

CAROLE MORRIS-UNDERHILL Two-year-old Claire Chang, of Halifax, nearly stole the show at King’sEdgehill School. The youngster was decked out in a graduation outfit and posing for photos during the private school’s pre-prom photo shoot June 15 at the historic campus. The commencement ceremonies were held the next day.
