Gloria Mae Wood - 93, 1925-2018, of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lower LaHave, she was a daughter of the late John and Belle (Barry) Nauss. Gloria grew up in Lower LaHave. She came to Kentville in 1940 and worked in home care for the next three years. On January 29, 1944 she married the love of her life, “Dick”, and he carried her over the threshold of 3 Nichols Avenue where they lived a wonderful 64 years together. She continued to reside there until her passing. A woman of considerab­le artistic abilities and tireless energy, Gloria did exceptiona­l needle work, knitting, quilting, cooking and decorating and loved her lifelong vocation – homemaking. Her family is grateful to all who contribute­d to her wellbeing as she lived out her life in the home she created and loved. We give thanks to Sheila Reynolds, for her compassion­ate care of Gloria over the past two years. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Rafuse, Falmouth and Linda Carey, Avonport; her adopted daughter, Pat Ritcey, Woodville; granddaugh­ters, Kathie Pemberton (Dwayne), Mount Denson; Amber Carey, Middleton; Kate Walsh (Jeff), Timberlea; grandson, Aaron Carey, Kentville; great grandchild­ren, Jason Pemberton, Kentville; Ryan, Liam and Samantha Pemberton, Mt. Denson; Hannah Wright, Kentville; great great grandson, Jacob Pemberton, Kentville; sisters, Doris Wood, Moncton; Sylvia Mossman (Lower LaHave); brother, Robert Nauss, Seabright; many nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by her husband, Richard, “Dick”; brothers, John, Douglas and Carl; sisters, Marie, Mary, Vivian and Jean. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there will be no visitation by family request. A private family graveside service was held in the family plot in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital.
