Quebec superstar Pierre Lapointe performing in Wolfville later this month
Festival Theatre is the place to be Jan. 20 to catch Quebec star Pierre Lapointe and celebrated classical musicians Philip Chiu and Cameron Crozman in concert.
The trio will come together to present an exciting French-themed concert at 7:30 p.m.
In a ‘Musique de Chambre’ treatment, they will perform songs from Lapointe’s recent recording, La Science Du Coeur, reimagined here for piano, cello and voice, as well as a selection of works by iconic French composers such as Chopin, Poulenc and Debussy.
Lapointe is a chart-topping leader of La Nouvelle Chanson Française, and is known for his groundbreaking collaborations with established classical artists.
He made history in Quebec when his career-defining record, Dans la Forêt des Mal-Aimés (In the Forest of the Unloved), became a triumphant concert with Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s Orchestre Métropolitain, in front of a Montreal audience of more than 100,000.
Lapointe is not only a star in Quebec, where his work has won him 18 Prix Félix (Québec’s equivalent to the Juno Awards) but also a critically-acclaimed artist in France, where twice he received the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros — the most prestigious music prize in the francophone world.
Chiu is considered one of Canada’s most sought-after chamber musicians while Crozman is hailed as one of Canada’s foremost young cellists.
