Following changes to the U Sports national championship schedules, Atlantic University Sport (AUS) announced on Feb. 3 its revised dates for its conference championships.

The AUS Final 6 men's and women's basketball championships at Scotiabank Centre has been pushed back three weeks to March 18-20.

The winter championship season will start with a splash March 11-13 with the AUS swimming championships at Dalplex in Halifax. The event was originally to be held in

St. John's, N.L. Memorial will host the conference championships in 2023.

The Windsor Curling

Club will be the site of the AUS curling championships March 17-20 and the conference track and field championships will be staged March 18-19 in Moncton.

“Providing our studentathletes with the opportunity to compete for AUS championships in 2022 has been a guiding principle for us as we've navigated the challenges of the last few months,” AUS executive director Phil Currie said in a news release.

“Having a longer runway to national championships gets us one step closer to that and makes room for a meaningful return to regular season and post-season competition, when possible.”

The men's and women's hockey and women's volleyball playoff rounds will begin following the conclusion of regular-season play.

AUS member schools in New Brunswick will resume competition on Feb. 11, with St. Thomas facing UNB and Mount Allison entertaining Moncton in women's hockey. Men's hockey and women's volleyball restart the following day.

The remainder of the AUS regular season schedule will be updated as soon as public health restrictions in Nova Scotia, P.E.I. and Newfoundland and Labrador permit.
