CUSTODY FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING
Anthony Scott Haynes, 50, of New Minas, has been sentenced to jail time and probation for having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.
He has also been sentenced to probation for failing to comply with a condition of a probation order, to keep the peace and to be of good behaviour.
Haynes changed his pleas to guilty on March 2. Judge Christopher Manning sentenced Haynes to six months in custody, to be followed by 18 months of probation, on the impaired driving charge. The court imposed a five-year driving prohibition against Haynes, to commence after his custodial sentence.
Haynes was sentenced to 18 months of probation, to be served concurrently, for failing to comply with a probation order.
Haynes committed the offences in Aylesford on Sept.
21, 2020. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Haynes gave breathalyser readings of 90 and 90.
Charges of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol and operating a conveyance while prohibited from doing so were dismissed on March 2.
INTERMITTENT CUSTODY FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING
Nicholas Timothy Doyle Hynes, 34, of Nictaux, has been sentenced to intermittent custody after pleading guilty to two counts of having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.
Hynes pleaded guilty to the first count on Dec. 21, 2021. The matter was adjourned to Feb. 24 to allow time for a presentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Hynes pleaded guilty to the second count on Feb. 24.
Judge Christopher Manning sentenced Hynes to 90 days of intermittent custody on each
concurrently. count, to be served Hynes will serve the time from Fridays at 9 p.m. to Mondays at 6 a.m. beginning March 4 and continuing until the sentence is served.
Hynes was also sentenced to 15 months of probation on each count, to be served concurrently, and the court imposed a three-year driving prohibition on each count, to be served concurrently.
Hynes committed the offences in Canning on May 19, 2021; and in Kingston on Aug. 30, 2021. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Hynes gave breathalyser readings of 170 and 170; and 150 and 150 respectively.
Charges of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol; and operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both were withdrawn on Feb. 24.
CONDITIONAL SENTENCE WITH HOUSE ARREST
Allan Lester Russell, 55, of Harmony, will serve a period of imprisonment in the community after he pleaded guilty to three offences relating to firearms.
The charges include using a firearm in a careless manner while shooting at targets; possessing a prohibited weapon, a sawed-off shotgun with the serial number removed, without holding a licence under which he may possess it; and contravening the Storage, Display, Transportation and Handling of Firearms by Individuals regulations by having a loaded .22 long rifle.
Russell changed his pleas to guilty on Dec. 22, 2021. The matters were adjourned to
Feb. 24 to allow time for a presentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Christopher Manning handed Russell a four-month conditional sentence order on the three charges, including house arrest for the first two months, to be followed by daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the remaining two months. This will be followed by 12 months of probation.
The court imposed a threeyear firearms prohibition against Russell and granted a forfeiture order for offencerelated property.
Russell committed the offences in Meadowvale between Sept. 27 and 28, 2020. Three more charges against Russell were dismissed on Feb. 24. They include operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both; having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance; and possessing a firearm, a sawed-off shotgun, knowing that the serial number had been removed.
CONDITIONAL SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM
Michael Kenneth West, 41, of West Brooklyn, has been handed a conditional sentence order with house arrest for committing an assault causing bodily harm.

On March 2, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed West a four-month conditional sentence order with house arrest for the entire time on the assault causing bodily harm charge. This will be followed by 12 months of probation.
The court granted a primary DNA order.
West committed the offence in West Brooklyn on June 19, 2020. Several other charges against West were dismissed on March 2.
They include two counts of failing to comply with a condition of a release order, to have no contact with an individual; two more counts of assault causing bodily harm; uttering a death threat; uttering a threat to cause bodily harm or death; and uttering a threat to damage an individual’s property.
CONDITIONAL SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM
Xhevahir Dullovi, 22, of Halifax, has been handed a conditional sentence order with house arrest for committing an assault causing bodily harm.
Dullovi was originally charged with aggravated assault but pleaded guilty to the lesser, included offence of assault causing bodily harm on Dec. 22, 2021. The matter was adjourned to March 2 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Christopher Manning handed Dullovi a 90-day conditional sentence order with house arrest for the first 60 days, to be followed by daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the remaining time.
The conditional sentence will be followed by 15 months of probation. The court imposed a five-year firearms prohibition against Dullovi and granted a primary DNA order.
Dullovi committed the offence in Wolfville on Aug. 8, 2020.
CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE FOR ASSAULT
Reginald Joshua Rand, 30, of Canning, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Rand changed his plea to guilty on Nov. 3, 2021. The matter was adjourned to Feb. 24 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Rand a conditional discharge with 12 months of probation.
Rand committed the offence in Wolfville on March 7, 2021. A charge of assault causing bodily harm was dismissed on Feb. 24.
SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT
Melissa Marie Dondale, 42, of Greenwood Square, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.
Dondale pleaded guilty to the charge on Dec. 7, 2021. The matter was adjourned to Feb. 24 to allow time for a presentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Dondale a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation.

Lawrence Joseph Walsh, 52, of Greenwood Square, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.
Walsh pleaded guilty to the charge on Dec. 7, 2021. The matter was adjourned to Feb. 24 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Walsh a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation.
Walsh committed the offence in Kingston on Sept. 9, 2021.
FINED FOR UNDERTAKING OFFENCE
Kevin Travis Harris, 26, of Kentville, has been fined for failing to comply with a condition of his undertaking.
Harris pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 28. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Harris $250.
