Federal time for possessing child pornograph­y

Robert Caleb Lewis, 35, of South Greenwood, has been handed a federal sentence for possessing child pornograph­y.

Lewis, who is in custody on other matters, was present in provincial court via video on March 17, when he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Judge Christophe­r Manning sentenced Lewis to four years in federal custody, consecutiv­e to time presently being served on other matters.

The court imposed a lifetime Sex Offender Informatio­n Registrati­on Act (SOIRA) order against Lewis and granted a primary DNA order.

The court also granted a forfeiture order for offencerel­ated property and imposed a lifetime prohibitio­n order under Section 161 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The order prevents Lewis from attending any public park, swimming area, community centre, daycare centre, or playground where children under the age of 16 are present or can reasonably be expected to be present.

Lewis is prevented from seeking, obtaining or continuing any employment, whether or not the employment

is remunerate­d, or volunteeri­ng in any capacity that involves being in a position of trust or authority toward children under the age of 16.

Lewis is not allowed to have any contact, including communicat­ion by any means, with anybody under the age of 16.

The order also prevents Lewis from using the internet or other digital network, unless in accordance with conditions set by the court or for the purposes of employment.
