FINED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

Tye Graham Fraser, 28, of Centrevill­e, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Fraser pleaded guilty to the charge on April 5. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Fraser $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against him.

Fraser committed the offence in Windsor on Jan.

27. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Fraser gave breathalyz­er readings of 160 and 160.

A charge of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol was withdrawn on April 5.

FINED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

Erin Margaret Banks, 42, of Greenwood, has been fined for operating a conveyance while her ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both.

Banks changed her plea to guilty on April 1. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Banks $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against her.

Banks committed the offence in Kingston on Dec. 4, 2020. A charge of operating a conveyance while prohibited from doing so was dismissed on April 1.

FINED FOR POSSESSING DRUGS

Jason Wayne Baltzer, 35, of Kentville, has been fined for unlawfully possessing cocaine.

Baltzer was originally charged with possession for the purpose of traffickin­g. He pleaded not guilty to this charge on July 15, 2020. Baltzer also pleaded not guilty to charges of storing a firearm in a careless manner; and possessing a restricted weapon for which he did not have a registrati­on certificat­e issued to him. The matters were adjourned for trial.

On April 29, 2021, the Crown offered no evidence on the two firearm-related charges and they were dismissed. The drug charge was adjourned for trial.

The trial began March 31 and continued on April 1. Evidence was heard and exhibits were tendered. Baltzer changed his plea to guilty to the lesser, included offence of unlawfully possessing cocaine on April 1. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Baltzer $1,000.

Baltzer committed the offence in Kentville on Dec. 4, 2019.

CONDITIONA­L DISCHARGE

Nathan Alan Trentleman, 23, of Wolfville, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation for two counts of failing to comply with a condition of an undertakin­g, to have no direct or indirect communicat­ion with an individual. Trentleman changed his pleas to guilty on Nov. 4, 2021. The matters were adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

On March 31, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Trentleman a conditiona­l discharge with 12 months of probation on the two charges.

Trentleman committed the offences in New Minas on May 29, 2020, and in Kingston on June 4, 2020. Charges of assault; failing to attend court in accordance with a release order; and failing to attend court in accordance with an undertakin­g were dismissed on March 31 with the Crown offering no evidence.
