Andrew Ross Baltzer, 29, of Kentville, has been sentenced to time deemed served and probation after pleading guilty to six charges.

They include committing mischief by willfully damaging the property of the Town of Kentville, a flower planter, of a value not exceeding $5,000; committing mischief by willfully damaging property of Cooperator­s Insurance and the New Minas RCMP of a value not exceeding $5,000; stealing property from Kentville Foodland of a value not exceeding $5,000; two counts of failing to comply with probation; and failing to comply with a condition of a release order.

Baltzer pleaded guilty to the charges on Jan. 15. The matters were adjourned to Feb. 6 for sentencing.

Judge Angela Caseley sentenced Baltzer to one day in custody on the first count of mischief; 10 days, to be served consecutiv­ely, for the second count of mischief; 15 days, to be served concurrent­ly, for

Foodland; stealing property from seven days, to be served consecutiv­ely, for the first probation offence; 15 days, to be served consecutiv­ely, for the second probation offence;

consecutiv­ely, and 10 days, to be served for the release order offence.

Considerin­g time spent remanded in custody, the 43-day sentence was deemed time served. Baltzer was also sentenced to two years of probation on the six charges. The court granted a standalone

payable restitutio­n order for $111, to Foodland.

Baltzer committed the offences in Kentville on Sept. 25; Oct. 10; and Nov. 20, 2023. Three more counts of failing to comply with probation and another count of mischief were withdrawn on Nov. 6.

PROBATION FOR ASSAULT, THREAT

Ryan James Murray, 48, of Chester, has been sentenced to probation for committing an assault and for uttering a death threat to two individual­s.

Murray changed his pleas to guilty to the two charges on Nov. 27, 2023. The matters were adjourned to Feb. 2 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Angela Caseley sentenced Murray to 20 months of probation on the two charges.

Murray committed the offences in Upper Vaughan on May 15, 2022. Another count of assault, two more counts of uttering a death threat and a charge of committing mischief by willfully smashing a house window were dismissed on Feb. 2.

UNDERTAKIN­G, PROBATION OFFENCES

Deanna Lynn O’Neil, 37, of New Minas, has been sentenced to time deemed served after pleading guilty to two charges.

They include failing to comply with a condition of an undertakin­g, to remain in her residence at all times with certain exceptions; and failing to comply with a condition of a probation order, to keep the

behaviour. peace and to be of good

O’Neil changed her pleas to guilty on Feb. 6. Judge Angela Caseley sentenced O’Neil to 30 days in custody on each count, concurrent­ly, deemed time served.

O’Neil committed the offences in Wolfville on Aug. 13, 2023.

FINED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

Eric Richard Corbett, 71, of Waterville, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Corbett changed his plea to guilty on Feb. 1. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Corbett $2,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against him.
