INTERMITTE­NT CUSTODY FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

Nicholas Durling, 38, of Carleton Corner, has been sentenced to intermitte­nt custody for operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both.

Durling changed his plea to guilty on Feb. 20. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek sentenced Durling to 30 days of intermitte­nt custody, to be served beginning Friday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. to Monday, Feb. 26 at 6 a.m. and continuing every weekend until the sentence is served.

Durling will be on probation while serving the intermitte­nt sentence. The court imposed a two-year driving prohibitio­n against Durling.

Durling committed the offence in Welsford on Sept.

23, 2023. A charge of having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance was dismissed on Feb. 20.

IMPAIRED DRIVING, DROVE WHILE PROHIBITED

David John Cochrane, 63, of Stanley, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance; and driving while prohibited.

Cochrane changed his pleas to guilty on Dec. 5, 2023.

The matters were adjourned to Feb. 20 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Angela Caseley fined Cochrane $2,000 on the impaired driving charge and fined him $1,000 for driving while prohibited. Cochrane was sentenced to two years of probation on the two charges and the court imposed a three-year driving prohibitio­n against him.

Cochrane committed the offence in Mantua on March 11, 2022. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Cochrane gave a blood alcohol reading of 280.

A charge of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol was dismissed on Feb. 20.

IMPAIRED DRIVING LEADS TO FINE

Stephen Merrill Lloyd, 35, of Coldbrook, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Lloyd pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 8. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Lloyd $2,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against him.

Lloyd committed the offence in Wolfville on Sept. 10, 2023. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Lloyd gave blood alcohol readings of 170 and 160.

A charge of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both was withdrawn on Feb. 8.

FINED FOR I MPAIRED DRIVING

Kyla Wilson, 19, of Seabright, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Wilson pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 8. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Wilson $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against her.

Wilson committed the offence in Wolfville on Oct. 14, 2023. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Wilson gave blood alcohol readings of 100 and 90.

A charge of operating a conveyance while her ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both was withdrawn on Feb. 8.

IMPAIRED DRIVING LEADS TO FINE

Candace Rene Gale Sanford, 36, of Walton, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Sanford pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 20. Judge Angela Caseley fined Sanford $2,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against her.

Sanford committed the offence in Scotch Village on Dec. 24, 2023. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Sanford gave a blood alcohol reading of 140.

A charge of operating a conveyance while her ability to do so was impaired by alcohol was withdrawn on Feb. 20.

ASSAULT, UNDERTAKIN­G OFFENCE

Mark Edward Graves, 54, of New Minas, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation for committing an assault and failing to comply with a condition of an undertakin­g, to not attend places related to a certain individual.

Graves changed his plea to guilty on the assault charge on March 17, 2023. The matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Graves later made an applicatio­n to withdraw his guilty plea. Evidence was heard on the applicatio­n, which was denied on Dec. 13, 2023.

Graves pleaded guilty to the undertakin­g offence prior to his sentencing hearing on Feb. 14. Judge Angela Caseley handed Graves a conditiona­l discharge with 12 months of probation on the two charges.

Graves committed the offences in New Minas on Oct. 23 and Dec. 8, 2021. A charge of knowingly conveying a threat to cause bodily harm to an individual was withdrawn on Feb. 14.

]FINED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

Jonathan James McKay, 35, of Kentville, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance.

McKay changed his plea to guilty on Feb. 20. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined McKay $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against him.

McKay committed the offence in Kentville on Aug.

24, 2023. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. McKay gave blood alcohol readings of 90 and 90.

A charge of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both was dismissed on Feb. 20.

CONDITIONA­L DISCHARGE FOR ASSAULTS

Brittany Ann Rawding, 33, of Kingston, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation after pleading guilty to three counts of assault.

Rawding pleaded guilty to the charges on Dec. 6, 2023. The matters were adjourned to Feb. 8 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Rawding a conditiona­l discharge with 15 months of probation on the three charges.

Rawding committed the offences in Kingston on Dec. 21, 2021, and between July 23 and Aug. 24, 2023; and in Aylesford on March 21, 2023.

Two more counts of assault were withdrawn on Feb. 8.

CONDITIONA­L DISCHARGE FOR ASSAULT

Dylan Gazley, 26, of Hantsport, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation for committing an assault.

Gazley changed his plea to guilty on Dec. 1, 2023. The matter was adjourned to Feb. 20 to allow time for a presentenc­e report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Angela Caseley handed Gazley a conditiona­l discharge with nine months of probation.

Gazley committed the offence in Hantsport on May 8, 2022. A charge of sexual assault was dismissed on Feb. 20.
