SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR ASSAULT

Kait-Lynn Bezanson, 19, of Auburn, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.

Bezanson pleaded guilty to the charge on Sept. 12, 2023. The matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

On Feb. 21, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Bezanson a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation.

Bezanson committed the offence in Plymouth on Aug. 18, 2022.

SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR UTTERING THREAT

Shawn Douglas Armstrong, 50, of Falmouth, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for uttering a threat to cause bodily harm to an individual.

Armstrong changed his plea to guilty on Feb. 23. Judge Angela Caseley handed Armstrong a suspended sentence with nine months of probation.

Armstrong committed the offence in Windsor on Feb. 26, 2022. Charges of failing to comply with a condition of an undertakin­g; uttering a death threat; and willfully obstructin­g, interrupti­ng, or interferin­g with an individual’s lawful enjoyment of property were dismissed on Feb. 23.

RELEASE ORDER OFFENCE

Dale Steven Troy MacTavish, 34, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to time deemed served for failing to comply with a condition of a release order, to have no direct or indirect contact or communicat­ion with an individual.

MacTavish was present in provincial court in custody on Feb. 26 and pleaded guilty to the charge. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek sentenced MacTavish to five days in custody. He was given credit at time-anda-half for three days spent remanded in custody, or 4.5 days. This was rounded up to five days and the time was deemed served.

MacTavish committed the offence in Lockhartvi­lle on Feb. 24. Another count of failing to comply with a condition of a release order was withdrawn on Feb. 26.

JAIL TIME FOR MULTIPLE OFFENCES

Nathan Cox, 39, of Grand

Pré, has been sentenced to jail time after being found guilty or pleading guilty to several offences.

Following a trial on Nov. 8, a decision was handed down on Nov. 16. Cox was found guilty of breaking and entering a residence and committing an indictable offence therein; assault; and two counts of willfully damaging property to a value not exceeding $5,000.

The matters were adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Prior to a sentencing hearing on Feb. 29, Cox pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to comply with a condition of a release order.

After considerin­g time spent remanded in custody, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek sentenced Cox to a total of 183 days in jail going forward on the six charges. His warrant of committal includes a no contact order relating to the complainan­t.

Cox was also sentenced to 24 months of probation on the six charges and the court imposed a mandatory lifetime firearms prohibitio­n against him.

Cox committed the offences in Wallbrook on May 15, 2022, and in Wolfville on Sept. 22, 2023. A charge of uttering a threat to cause bodily harm or death was dismissed on Nov. 8, 2023. Two more counts of failing to comply with a condition of a release order were withdrawn on Feb. 29.

DROVE WHILE PROHIBITED

Michael Evan Lantz, 33, of Three Mile Plains, has been fined for operating a conveyance while prohibited from doing so.

Lantz pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 28. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Lantz $750 and imposed a 16month driving prohibitio­n against him.

Lantz committed the offence in New Minas on Dec. 1, 2023.
