CONDITIONA­L SENTENCE ORDER, PROBATION

George Bernard McGean, 55, of Lower Sackville, has been handed a conditiona­l sentence order with house arrest after pleading guilty to three charges.

They include failing to comply with a condition of an undertakin­g, to have no contact with an individual; repeatedly communicat­ing directly or indirectly with an individual; and distributi­ng intimate images of an individual without consent.

McGean changed his pleas to guilty on Jan. 3. The matters were adjourned to March 27 to allow time for a presentenc­e report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed McGean a 10-month conditiona­l sentence order on the three charges, including house arrest for the first six months, to be followed by daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the remaining time. The conditiona­l sentence will be followed by 30 months of probation.

contact undertakin­g, to have no with an individual; and threatenin­g an individual to have her son lose his job with the intent to obtain the sum of $500.

CONDITIONA­L DISCHARGE FOR ASSAULT

Marcus Anthony Patrick Ward, 21, of Wolfville, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation for committing an assault.

Ward pleaded not guilty to the charge on May 17, 2023. A trial was held on Jan. 4, 17, and 24. A decision was handed down on Jan. 30, and Ward was found guilty. The matter was adjourned to March 26 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Ward a conditiona­l discharge with 12 months of probation. Ward committed the offence in Wolfville on Oct. 15, 2022.

SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE

Jason Konigshaus, 42, of White Rock, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for willfully damaging an individual’s property to a value not exceeding $5,000.

Konigshaus pleaded guilty to the charge on March 27. Judge Christophe­r Manning handed Konigshaus a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation. Konigshaus committed the offence in White Rock on Jan. 19, 2023. Charges of using a weapon in committing an assault and assault were dismissed on March 27.

RELEASE ORDER OFFENCE

Allen Frederick Mahaney, 57, of New Minas, has been sentenced to time deemed served for failing to comply with a condition of a release order.

Mahaney pleaded guilty to the charge on March 27. He was granted credit at timeand-a-half for 22 days spent remanded in custody, or 33 days. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek sentenced Mahaney to time deemed served.

Mahaney committed the offence in Kentville on March 6.

JAIL TIME, CONDITIONA­L SENTENCE

Matthew Edward Higgins, 29, of Kingston, has been sentenced to jail time for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance; and operating a conveyance while prohibited from doing so.

Higgins has also been handed a conditiona­l sentence order with house arrest for another count of operating a conveyance while prohibited from doing so.

Higgins pleaded guilty to the charges on Oct. 18, 2023. The matters were adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence

and for report to be prepared sentencing.

On April 3, Judge Christophe­r Manning sentenced Higgins to 30 days in custody on the impaired driving charge and imposed a two-year driving prohibitio­n against him. Higgins was sentenced to 15 days in custody, to be served consecutiv­ely, on one count of driving while prohibited.

On the other count of driving while prohibited, Higgins was handed a 45-day conditiona­l sentence order with house arrest for the first 20 days, to be followed by daily curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the remaining time. The conditiona­l sentence will be followed by two years of probation.

Higgins committed the offences in Greenwood on Feb. 9, 2023, and in Kentville on April 5, 2023. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Higgins’s blood alcohol readings were not available.

A charge of operating a conveyance while his ability to operate it was impaired to any degree by alcohol or a drug or both was withdrawn on April 3.
