CONDITIONA­L DISCHARGE FOR THEFT

Crystal Baker, 27, of

Wolfville, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation for stealing property of a value not exceeding $5,000 from the Atlantic Superstore.

Baker pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 24. The matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. On April 17, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Baker a conditiona­l discharge with 12 months of probation.

Baker committed the offence in New Minas on Oct. 18, 2023.

TIME DEEMED SERVED

Allen Frederick Mahaney, 57, of Cambridge, has been sentenced to time deemed served for failing to comply with a condition of a release order by failing to remain on the property where his residence is situated at all times.

Mahaney pleaded guilty to the charge on April 29. Judge Angela Caseley sentenced Mahaney to 45 days in custody. He was given credit at time-and-a-half for 30 days spent remanded in custody, or 45 days, and the time was deemed served. Mahaney committed the offence in Cambridge on March 31.

FINED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

Gary Paul Dennis Collins, 75, of Gaspereau, has been fined for having a blood alcohol concentrat­ion that was equal to or exceeded the legal limit within two hours of ceasing to operate a conveyance.

Collins pleaded guilty to the charge on April 30. Judge Claudine MacDonald fined Collins $1,500 and imposed a one-year driving prohibitio­n against him.

Collins committed the offence in Falmouth on March 17. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in

100 ml of blood. Collins gave blood alcohol readings of 130 and 130.

A charge of operating a conveyance while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol was withdrawn on April 30.

CONDITIONA­L DISCHARGE FOR ASSAULT

David Andrew Arthur Vandolder, 43, of Victoria Harbour, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation for committing an assault.

Vandolder pleaded not guilty to the charge on April 5, 2023. A trial was held on Feb. 6 and a decision was handed down on March 4. Vandolder was found guilty. The matter was adjourned to April 29 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Angela Caseley handed Vandolder a conditiona­l discharge with 12 months of probation.

Vandolder committed the offence in Victoria Harbour on Feb. 24, 2023.
