Originally from the Isaan Region of Northeast Thailand, Ui honed her culinary skills on her mother’s cooking. The aspiring restaurateur then operated her own street food stall in Bangkok before moving to Canada more than a decade ago.
At U&I Thai, it’s not just about the delicious food; it’s about engaging the senses. The artistically plated presentation, the warm contemporary décor with rich dark woods and Thai music softly playing satisfies the eye, nose and palate.
At the helm of the kitchen is award-winning executive chef A-Ngun Phutyaem. She brings to life Ui’s vision for traditional Thai flavours. Having worked at a five-star hotel in Thailand, Phutyaem stays true to the Thai tenets of sour, sweet, salty and spice, making U&I Thai a perfect example of fine cuisine.
