Papa Bear In a departure from his usual philanthropic e orts in the arts, Michael Audain veered into the woods last year and became a contender in the long-standing ght to end grizzly hunting in B.C. He threw $500,000 into the ring and started the Grizzly Bear Foundation, with the goal of protecting the iconic West Coast beasts. In August, Audain got some satisfaction when the NDP government announced it was axing the trophy hunt. But the 80-year-old won’t raise a celebratory glass until he’s convinced all loopholes are sealed tight.
