Changemake­r The past year’s fentanyl crisis kicked Janice Abbott’s already remarkable e¢ciency and eectiveness up another notch. The CEO of AtiraWomen’s Resource Society has a reputation for being able to get any project through city council. This year, she opened a women-only overdose prevention site called Sister space that has beds dedicated to women waiting to get into drug treatment and those just coming out. She also oversaw the opening of projects in Richmond and Surrey, opened a temporary Vancouver winter shelter for women and two new SROs,s pearheaded a national symposium on women’s housing and was one of two people named to the Vancouver City Planning Commission.
