PREVIOUSLY # 32, 2016 After serving as CEO of non-pro t advocacy group YWCA Metro Vancouver for 15 years, as well as sitting on various boards and chairing the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, Janet Austin got the call from the prime minister in March. She likely won’t be pressed into action the way her predecessor, Judith Guichon, was in the aftermath of 2017’s provincial election. But it’s obvious that the new viceroy will use her platform to continue to push for equality in the workplace and housing for single mothers, two pillars of her work with YWCA.
