Offer teachers the same deal as Ontario or Alberta

Teachers should receive an increase in pay, but to do so, they, as have other public sector unions, must agree to efficienci­es ( cost reductions) to offset the increase in wages.

One way would be to adopt the Alberta or Ontario collective agreements in totality.

Both of those jurisdicti­ons have approximat­ely 10 more days in session, fewer non- instructio­nal days, larger average class sizes, more instructio­nal hours not including prep time, and teacher duties which include supervisio­n of students and participat­ion in extracurri­cular activities.

These are only a few difference­s which if adopted in B. C. would create cost efficienci­es that could be used to grant a wage increase.
