A Canadian boxer is trying to knock out a plan to have female fighters wear skirts in the ring during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Elizabeth Plank of Montreal has launched a petition at change. org, demanding the Amateur International Boxing Association cease its plans to have female boxers wear skirts so spectators can distinguish them from male fighters. “This dangerous recommendation objectifies female athletes and must be reversed immediately,” Plank’s petition reads. “It is time for the AIBA to play fair and end this dangerous game of gender discrimination.’’ As of Thursday, more than 50,000 people had signed the petition.
