Whitecaps sign Railhawks midfielder

The Vancouver Whitecaps signed former Carolina Railhawks midfielder Jun Marques Davidson to a Major League Soccer contract, making him the fourth Carolina player to become Whitecaps property this year. Caps head coach Martin Rennie, who coached the Tier- 2 NASL Railhawks the past three seasons, calls Davidson a “technicall­y- gifted” defensive midfielder. The 28- year- old dual American/ Japanese citizen played for Carolina in 2010. He joins midfielder Matt Watson, goalkeeper Brad Knighton and forward Etienne Barbara as former Railhawks making the move to Vancouver with Rennie. The Caps also announced Jesse Symons as the new coach of the women’s team and girls’ elite program.
