As we ran along the streets shouting, “V- E Day! Read all about it!” doors were opened as pyjama– clad citizens rushed out to buy papers. Anyone who knows old White Rock can imagine how many stairs we climbed that day. This very thin edition sold for 10 cents! By the time we were sold out and arrived at school, everyone was out on the school grounds around the Union Jack. The principal made a speech and we all sang God Save the King and O Canada.
