Critics, columnists take readers to dinner, on shopping sprees
It’s our 100th birthday here at The Vancouver Sun and don’t be too ready to call us geriatric. We’re all limbered up for a bunch of contests involving Sun personalities.
For the first contest, you get me, like it or not. The winner gets to join me and Sun food editor Juanita Ng for a dinner at a restaurant that I’ll be reviewing for publication.
The winner and a companion can quiz, discuss, debate and drill for insider information on what it means to be a restaurant critic and a food editor in this city of deliciousness. The winner, in trench coat, wig and sunglasses, ( okay, I jest about the dress code) can have a go at reviewing the dinner as well. I think the entry rules state you’ll need to enter witness protection should you “out” or post photos of the critic. For entry rules, go to www. the vancouver sun contests. com/ expert foodies.
In coming weeks and months, there’ll be chances to win more up close and personal experiences with Vancouver Sun writers and editors.
Next month, just as winterweary gardens look to us to groom and beautify them, our gardening expert Steve Whysall will take a lucky contest winner on a gardening shopping spree to Cedar Rim Nursery in Langley. Before the nursery visit, he’ll provide a home consultation with suggestions on what to buy and where to plant.
And April isn’t such a cruel month — we give you music. A winner will enjoy dinner with our hipster music critic, Francois Marchand, and our entertaining entertainment editor, Maggie Langrick. As well, the prize includes tickets to the Roger Waters concert on May 26.
