Burrowing Owl Estate Winery recently turned over $ 400,000 on behalf of its tasting room visitors to the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society of British Columbia, the South Okanagan Rehabilitation Centre for Owls and The Land Conservancy of B. C. Visitors are encouraged to make a minimum $ 2 donation when they visit the winery. The Burrowing Owl Recovery Program, started in 1990, is the longest sustained program of its kind in North America. Hawksworth Restaurant will hold “A Spirited Dinner” as part of Tales of the Cocktail’s return to Vancouver on Feb. 13. Chef David Hawksworth and his team will prepare a southern- themed dinner paired with cocktails featuring the Sazerac portfolio of rye and bourbon whiskeys. Bar and lounge manager Brad Stanton has designed five creative cocktails to be paired with the canapé reception and a Creole- inspired, four- course menu. They are calling it a night for southern belles and gentlemen to celebrate the New Orleans cocktail culture. Tickets are $ 125 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuities. Call 604- 605- 3325.
