Inverted pyramid
A style of writing specifi c to journalism, it dictates that the most important information be placed at the top of a story, followed by the second- most- important detail, the third, and so on. The theory behind the style is it quickly provides readers with the news, so if they stop reading after the first few paragraphs they’ll know the key facts. More importantly, it eased worries in the telegraph era when stories were interrupted mid- transmission and allowed editors to “cut from the bottom.”
