Vancouver Sun

Extra, Extra

-

Okay, it’s not really an X, but forgive us. Besides, this is much more fun. Everyone has heard the phrase “Extra, extra, read all about it,” shouted from the mouths of newsboys in many an old fi lm. The phrase originated not because there was important news ( although there was) but because the news was deemed important enough for a paper to print an extra edition. Although it happens less often today, it is not unheard of: The Sun printed an extra edition on the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2001, after the terror attacks.
