A fight for the funnies

As a youngster in the early ’ 50s, I recall my mom chuckling with newspaper in hand. “What’s so funny?” I asked. “Eric Nicol,” she replied.

On a personal note, comic books were verboten at our Mennonite home, but the Saturday funnies were acceptable. Coming from a large family, the fight was on! They were well read. To this day the example of the daily paper is a must. Elizabeth Gast Special to The Sun
