The Vancouver Sun archives each edition of the newspaper, but it doesn’t keep the paper version. Instead, the papers are stored on microfi lm — essentially, fi lm on which images can be photographed at a greatly reduced size to be viewed with a special magnifi cation system. At this point, The Sun has 3,912 rolls of microfi lm, containing every newspaper dating back to Feb. 12, 1912. Microfi lm is the legal record of The Sun’s publications, even in the digital age.
