G. Love & Special Sauce
Commodore Ballroom, show 9: 30 p. m. G. Love steps away from his usual hip- hop- infl ected blues on his 14th album, Fixin’ To Die. New friends Scott and Seth Avett ( of country group The Avett Brothers), who both played on, and produced, the record, lure G to a more rootsy, trad- blues sound that’s sincere and vigorous. Banjo, upright bass, and Dobro abound, amid hand and foot percussion, and plenty of harmonica.
