Idol contestants revealed tonight
If you’ve avoided American Idol during the so- bad- they’re- laughable stage, but are curious to learn what, if any, potential talent there is in this season’s crop of would- be country crooners, tonight will finally provide a serious hint of things to come.
For this is the night this season’s 24 finalists will be named and revealed. Viewers can expect the usual tears and jubilation, as, one by one, the remaining contestants learn their fate. And while it’s easy to be cynical about the process, this is the show that produces the stars, as producer Ken Warwick reminded journalists last month.
“No other series over the years has produced anything like the number of stars we have,” Warwick said.
“I think Leona Lewis was a one- and-a-half- hit star for 10 minutes, but there are no Kelly Clarksons, Carrie Underwoods, Jennifer Hudsons, and Katharine Mcphees. They are real stars.” ( Fox, CTV Two – 8 p. m.)
