SERBIAN ROWER, 24, DIES DURING TRAINING
Nemanja Nesic, a member of the Serbian national rowing team, died Wednesday during a training session, a senior official with the country’s Rowing Federation said. He was 24. General Secretary Nebojsa Jevremovic said the rower collapsed during a morning practice in his hometown of Smederevo, east of Belgrade. He said another rower and his coach rushed the athlete to shore where a medical team was waiting but could not revive him. Jevremovic said the athlete had regular medical checkups and there was no indication anything was wrong with his health. Nesic’s career- best was a bronze in fours at the European Championship last year in Bulgaria.
