Former MP Dhaliwal to run for B. C. Liberals

- Jonathan Fowlie, Vancouver Sun

Former federal Liberal MP Sukh Dhaliwal is expected to announce Wednesday he is running for the B. C. Liberals in the riding of Surrey- Panorama. Dhaliwal was an MP for Newton- North Delta between 2006 and 2011, but lost in a close election last year to New Democratic Party candidate and former B. C. Teachers’ Federation president Jinny Sims. Dhaliwal would not return calls Tuesday, but his announcement is expected to also involve a shift of ridings for Minister of Children and Family Development Stephanie Cadieux. She is expected to move from her current Surrey- Panorama riding into Surrey- Cloverdale, which had been held for successive terms by retiring Liberal MLA Kevin Falcon. The move suits both candidates, party sources say, as Dhaliwal lives in Surrey- Panorama and Cadieux lives in Surrey- Cloverdale. Party sources also say Falcon is fully supportive of both moves.
