The Voyage, or Three Years at Sea Part IV
For this exhibition, three contemporary artists explore our relationship with the sea. Stan Douglas’s mind- bending video loop Journey Into Fear ( above) is set on a container ship. England’s Uriel Orlow’s project explores the community formed by the crew of 14 cargo vessels forced to remain in the Suez Canal for eight years as a result of the aftermath of 1967’ s Six Day War. And California’s Allan Sekula’s latest film The Forgotten Space investigates the impact of globalization on sea workers and the sea itself. A component of this exhibit is mounted at Vancouver Maritime Museum.
Opening reception 7: 30 p. m.; runs to Dec. 16 | Charles H. Scott Gallery
