Get in the spirit of the season by visiting five festive residences

-

We take a sneak peek at a festively outfitted abode that will be on the 8th annual Homes for the Holidays tour.

Interested in getting a little seasonal decorating inspiration? You’ll want to put aside a little time next weekend, when five festively outfitted homes on Vancouver’s west side will be opening their doors to the public. The eighth annual Homes for the Holidays tour, held as a benefit for Kids Help Phone, takes place on Nov. 24 and 25. The “unique displays of holiday decorating” are a collaboration between local interior designers and home decor retailers, as well as the homeowners, says a release detailing the event. “Tickets allow you a one- time entry into each of the five homes to tour at your own pace and gather inspiration for your own homes for the holidays.” Included on this year’s tour is a heritage home built in 1912. The residence was restored two years ago by homeowner Anne Walsh and contractor Martin Wilder and his team, and retains the original wood mouldings, bevelled glass and pocket doors. Walsh is a designer, and took on the festive decorating of her home. Tickets to Homes for the Holidays are $ 50. Tour- goers can split their visits over the two days of the event, but are permitted to visit each home just once. For more information, or to find out where to purchase tickets, visit www.homesfortheholidays.ca or call 604267- 7057. Kids Help Phone is a toll- free, 24- hour service that provides confidential telephone and web counselling and referrals for children and youth.
