Pickup at BC Place

Individual package pickup is at BC Place Stadium for three days only. If you’ve sent in your registration, collect your race number, T- shirt and timing tag at The Vancouver Sun Run Fair at BC Place Stadium. The fair runs today from 4 p. m. to 8 p. m., Friday from 10 a. m. to 7 p. m. and Saturday from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. T- shirts not collected before race day will be forfeited. If you are a member of a corporate or Dairyland school team, note: there is a NEW location for pick up this year. All team captain pick ups of race bibs and timing tags for all members will be at Gate H at BC Place Stadium from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m. today or from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. Friday. There is no team pickup Saturday or on race day. Race packages for team members’ friends or family, who are not on your team and are registered as individuals or in the 2.5- km Shaw Mini Sun Run, must be picked up separately at the Sun Run Fair at BC Place Stadium ( Gate G), today through Saturday. If you are a member of an InTraining clinic, please collect your T- shirt, race number and timing tag from your clinic coordinator. There is no race- day collection of race packages, except for out- of- town entrants, who may obtain their race numbers, T- shirts and timing tags Sunday from 6: 30 a. m. to 8 a. m. at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. Entrants who must pay long- distance charges to phone Vancouver from home qualify for race- day collection.

Important: Race bib lookup

BEFORE going to the Sun Fun Fair to pick up your race bib, T- shirt and timing tag, you must go online to confirm you are registered and look up your bib number to avoid long lineups. Visit the sunrun. com website for more details. Start zone You have access to your start zone only through the allocated access street and you may miss the race start if race- day collection lines are long. You are strongly encouraged to obtain your items the day before. Admission to the Sun Run Fair is free and there will be plenty to see and learn about the Sun Run while collecting your T- shirt, number and timing tag. The official Sun Run merchandise booth will sell technical running gear and Sun Run souvenir items. Timing tag The Vancouver Sun Run is using the MyLaps BibTag timing system. Pre- race instructions Pick up and verify your BibTag at Race Package Pickup. It records the time it takes you to get from start to finish no matter where in the pack you begin. Your BibTag is attached to the back of your race number. DO NOT remove it. Attach your race number to the front of your shirt before the race. No BibTag = No Results. Do not crumple your race number or damage the BibTag in any way; a crumpled/ damaged BibTag will cause it not to work. Race day instructions You must wear the BibTag on your Race Number as provided or you will not be timed. Ensure your Race Number is clearly visible; the BibTag will not work properly if it is covered with clothing. Make sure if you are wearing “throw away” clothing before the event that you remove it before crossing the timing mats at the start. You must cross the timing mats at the start and finish lines to receive a finish time. No other timing method will be used. Race finish instructions After you cross the finish line, you do not need to return your race number or BibTag – it’s your souvenir! Proceed to the Wrap Party and enjoy!

Look for your result and highlights of the run in The Vancouver Sun on Monday, April 22. Online results will be available at www. sunrun. com later that week.

The beginning

The Neurotics will perform on the start line stage beginning at 8 a. m. Sunday. Competitive ( unassisted) wheelchair racers start at 8: 40 a. m. GoodLife Fitness aerobics instructors lead a warm- up starting at 8: 47 a. m. Walkers and runners are grouped into waves according to their estimated finish time, and start at timed intervals. This allows you to run at your pace with other participants of similar ability. The first wave starts at 9 a. m. There will be multiple waves. If you are a walker in the purple and red zones, you are encouraged to arrive at the start by 9 a. m., but be aware that you may not cross the start line until about 9: 45 a. m. Please be patient — it is worth it! Walkers are stationed east of Granville and have their own entertainment. Quickness will perform in the red zone from 8 a. m. to 10: 30 a. m. The Neurotics will continue to perform at the start line until the final walker has set off on the course. With the Timing Tag system you have an individual net time, so you don’t need to worry about the time it takes you to get to the start line. For the safety of all participants, Nordic Walkers, strollers, baby joggers and assisted wheelchairs must start in the red zone, regardless of ability. At the start zone, assemble behind the balloon arch that matches the colour of your bib. See the map on the back of your bib for access streets, or check the map on this page. Starting positions are on a first- come, first- served basis within each zone. Arrive early. Yellow zone closes at 8: 30 a. m. Competitive wheelchair start is 8: 40 a. m. You must use the access street listed on the back of your race number to get to your colour- coded zone. Yellow number access is from Burrard, green numbers from Hornby, white numbers from Howe, purple numbers from Granville and red numbers from Seymour. Entry to all zones will be controlled for safety, so check the start map on this page or on the back of your race number.

2.5- km Shaw Mini- Sun Run

The Shaw Mini Sun Run offers participants a 2.5- km, fun- filled route that starts at BC Place Stadium at 777 Pacific Boulevard and finishes back at the start line on Pacific Boulevard. It’s perfect for those who prefer a shorter route or for families ( 12 & under age group). The Shaw Mini Sun Run starts at 8 a. m., with festivities that include music, bouncy inflatables, mascots, tattoo artist, a caricaturist and performers to entertain Shaw Mini Sun Runners before and throughout the race. Shaw TV’s Johanna Ward, Host of Go! Vancouver, will MC the Mini Sun Run. The Shaw Mini Sun Runners will enjoy the flat easy course that heads east on Pacific Boulevard, left on Columbia, left on Keefer, left again onto Carroll Street, right onto Expo Boulevard, followed by another left turn onto Terry Fox Way, and finally winds back onto Pacific Boulevard for the final stretch to the finish line. The event is not timed, but there will be a clock for those who would like to track their time. Each Shaw Mini Sun Runner receives an individual race bib number and each participant receives a finisher’s ribbon. Shaw Mini Sun Runners get to see their name in print, too. All race results are printed in The Vancouver Sun on Monday, April 22. At BC Place, Shaw Mini Sun Runners can replenish energy levels with Dairyland Milk and yogurt from Milk2Go, Armstrong Cheese, Canadian Springs Water and organic produce from Spud. ca. They can also enjoy a variety of fun activities within the Shaw Mini Kids Zone. If you haven’t already registered for the Shaw Mini Sun Run and wish to do so, registration is in person only at BC Place Stadium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There is no race- day registration. The $ 25 ( students) and $ 35 ( adults, 18 years & older) entry fee includes a paint- your- own T- shirt and paints for youth- sized participants or a Sun Run souvenir T- shirt for adult participants. Adults or escorts must accompany the children in the Shaw Mini Sun Run. All adult escorts or parents must register. There is no fee for escorts unless a T- shirt is requested.

A little charity

Since 1985, Sun Runners have raised more than $ 1.98 million for designated causes. This year, your entry will support The Vancouver Sun’s Raise- a- Reader campaign and B. C.’ s amateur athletes. This year’s event will be held Monday, July 1 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. Visit www. harryjerome. com for information.
