Sun columnist honoured for writings on spirituali­ty

Vancouver Sun columnist Douglas Todd has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Vancouver School of Theology “in recognitio­n of his outstandin­g contributi­on to the field of journalism pertaining to subjects of spirituali­ty and religion.”

The school noted that Todd was raised in a family of staunch atheists, but has become one of the most decorated writers on spirituali­ty and ethics in North America, winning several awards and scholarshi­ps for his work.

His Vancouver Sun blog, The Search, has been cited as an “editor’s selection” by The New York Times.

Todd will receive his Doctor of Divinity Certificat­e on May 6 at the Kerrisdale Presbyteri­an Church.
