Duck Dynasty clan give new ammo to critics against their gun deal

-

Duck! The popular, gun- loving rednecks behind smash reality TV hit Duck Dynasty are opening fire on the marketplace with their own line of firearms, according to published reports.

Famed gunmaker Mossberg is teaming with Duck Commander — the Robertson clan’s family company — to produce an arsenal of nine shotguns, two semiautomatic rifles and a semiautomatic pistol. Already some of the guns have been shipped.

In a video posted on Mossberg’s website, duck destroyer Phil Robertson exclaims: “Do you know what makes me happy ladies and gentlemen? To blow a mallard drake’s head smooth off.”

The family patriarch recently came under fire himself for outrageous comments he made about homosexuals and blacks. The network that carries the show, A& E, temporarily suspended him but due to an outcry did an about face.

Now, the Robertsons could be in more hot water with their gun deal.

The massacre of 26 children and teachers at Sandy Hook Elemenatry School in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012 reinvigorated the debate in the U. S. on gun control. Ironically, Mossberg is located 40 minutes away in New Haven, Conn.

A spokesman for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence told RadarOnline. com that the swamp- dwelling gun nuts would rather make a dollar than be responsible.

“The Robertson family is clearly all about marketing their ‘ brand’ and making a buck off it,” Ladd Everitt, director of communications for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence told the website. “I suspect they’re getting in the gun business because they think it could be profitable.”

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have also voiced their opposition.

But for Mossberg and the Duck Dynasty crew, it’s business as usual.

The company says the Duck Commander guns have a “waterfowl pattern” camouflage design and boast the Duck Commander logo, of a duck in flight.

All the guns also come with an American flag bandana — like the one worn by one of the show’s characters.
